Bath

At 8:00 a.m. we drove to Calais. For some of us, the Eurotunnel was a new and exciting experience. The 55 km distance passed quickly and after about 40 minutes we arrived to the UK.


On our way we went past Heathrow Airport, where our guide Mr Darek was waiting for us and Windsor where we were going to come back later in our trip. Mr Darek with a great sense of humor was telling us stories about places which we were watching through the bus windows. The weather was beautiful, the views were nice and idyllic. There were green hills and water tanks and ecological grass mowers - sheep grazing in the meadows. We were especially interested in Eton School. In this school princes William and Harry and Polish minister Sikorski's sons were educated. In Eton school the fee is “only” 130000 pounds a year. In the afternoon we visited Bath Thermal Spa – Aque Sulis. The Spa dates back to the Roman times and is famous for Roman baths. 4 million tourists visit the place annually. We could admire many of well exposed findings with curse tablets addressed to Sulis Goddess among them. After that we were strolling around the city on our own collecting our personal memories and impressions. During the walk in the


city we saw beautiful flower arrangements, a bridge with little shops on it, the river with cascades, Jane Austin´s traces and Victorian Gothic and Georgian architecture such as the cathedral and Royal Crescent and the town hall among others . Then we went to Bristol for an overnight stop.

O godz 8.00 ruszyliśmy do Calais. Dla części z nas przeprawa Eurotunelem była nowym i fascynującym doświadczenie. Przebycie 55 kilometrowej odległości minęło szybko i po około 40 minutach przybyliśmy do Zjednoczonego Królestwa. Po drodze minęliśmy lotnisko Heathrow ( tu zabraliśmy naszego przewodnika ,pana Darka) i Windsor, gdzie jeszcze wrócimy. Pan Darek ze swada i poczuciem humoru komentował cośmy widzieli. Aura sprzyjała, widoki piękne i sielskie. Zielone pagórki i zbiorniki wodne,a wokół ekologiczne kosiarki -owieczki skubiące trawę. Szczególne zainteresowanie wzbudziła szkoła Eton. Tu byli edukowani aktualni książęta William i Harry, a także synowie ministra R.Sikorskiego. Roczna nauka to "tylko" 130000 funtow. Po południu zwiedzamy Bath- Aque Sulis. Miasto słynie z rzymskich łaźni, rocznie odwiedza je 4 miliony turystów. Moglismy podziwiac wiele dobrze wyeksponowanych znalezisk, wśród nich tabliczki z klątwami kierowanymi do bogini Sulis. Potem indywidualne zbieranie wrażeń podczas spaceru po mieście : pięknie skomponowane kwietniki, rzeka z kaskadami,na niej specyficzny most zabudowany sklepikami, ślady Jane Austen ,no i oczywiście klasyczne zabytki, takie jak katedra, Royal Crescent itd. Teraz jazda na nocleg do Bristolu.
